Who are we?
SMP Consultancy, founded in 2002, became a Limited Company in 2005.
We are a leading company that provides specialists who are committed to supporting and enabling businesses to meet the requirements demanded of them by the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA). The DDA was introduced to provide support to disabled people to help them access areas of their everyday life that are barred to them due to barriers, real or artificial, erected by the built environment, electronic means or by people's attitudes in general. Remove these barriers and the disability becomes almost invisible enabling disabled people to become independent.
We offer service providers and product manufacturers, practical solutions to overcome those barriers that disabled people encounter in their everyday lives enabling them to spend more on what they want - your products, services, goods and facilities - instead of what they have to have because that is all they can gain access to.
Why We Set Up
Since the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA), a new Act, The Disability Act 2005 has been introduced along with a new commission, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The new Act and the new body have been introduced to encourage a more rapid advancement towards meeting the requirements of the DDA and are helping to change the way everyone does business.

Although Companies are becoming increasingly aware of the Disability Discrimination Act they may not be sure what action to take.
